A baby is a treasured and valued gift from God. Understanding that parents are merely stewards of God’s gift of a child, the ceremony is a time for immediate family, extended family, God parents and the church family to sharing in a Pastoral blessing of the baby and a charge given to parents and God-parents of the responsibility to properly raise the child in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
